This Week at the Races May 24-25

Memorial day was the first day in a long time we had zero VMS clients racing. Everyone was either recovering from races or out training, VMS coaches included. While on a long weekend training camp scouting trip in Ashville, I did see on facebook an amazing performance that I personally would like to give props to.

Lydia Veal McRae is neither a VMS client nor a triathlete but I did have the good fortune to run with her and PRS when I first moved to Jacksonville in 2011.  If you are a runner and have not checked out PRS, I would highly suggest it. Coach Paul and the rest of the group are extremely welcoming and made me feel right at home.
I remember running weekly bridges with Lydia and both of us where in the 3:20-3:30 marathon range. In the past 3 years she has worked diligently in training and this weekend at the Ottawa marathon all the early mornings, hard workouts and sacrifices paid off!!!

  SHE WENT SUB 3 HOURS!!!

Congratulations Lydia on being one of only a small handful of Jacksonville runners that have broken the 3 hour mark.

Here are some facts about her amazing performance from her coach and husband Paul :

Just more amazing facts about your amazing race yesterday.

1) your official time was 2:59:32 which meant you PR'd by 2:40

2) you placed 158th overall out of 5588 people

3) you were 8th in your age group of 228 people

4) the THING I'm most proud of is you were the 19th female to cross the finish line out of 2007!

Great race yesterday. Proud of you!!
